Rid A Pest Inc. was started in 1972, in Wilson North Carolina, by the current owner and President, Clyde “Les” Smith. We currently have office locations in Wilson, Morehead City, and Greenville; with technicians equipped to service any location for any pest. We employ only quality technicians and provide continuing education during their employment to ensure our customers that their homes and businesses are serviced by the best. We use only the most recent technology, focusing on environmentally friendly techniques and procedures to ensure that your family and pets live in a pest-free environment.

President/CEO

Clyde “Les” Smith was born in Raleigh, NC where his father Clyde F. Smith was a Ph. D Entomologist, known throughout the world for his research. As Head of the Department of Entomology at North Carolina State University, Dr. Smith was instrumental in establishing the North Carolina Structural Pest Control Law and developing the current pest control industry in our state. Les studied Entomology at NC State and received a degree in Urban and Industrial Pest Control. Having worked in Georgia and North Carolina as a technical developer, manager, and sales person with other respected pest control companies, Les decided to move back to his home state and start a pest control company based on the principles of honesty, integrity, and higher education. He and his wife Lynda have five children and eight grandchildren. They enjoy working in their yard and currently divide their time between Wilson and Morehead City; working daily with their sons Jamie and Lee in those offices. 

Vice President/General Manager

Jamie Smith studied Entomology at NC State and Criminal Justice at North Carolina Wesleyan in Rocky Mount. He worked for Rid A Pest in several positions during high school and college, learning all aspects of the business. After college, he worked for the Rocky Mount Police Department on a special task force to reduce crime in dangerous neighborhoods. Desiring to help his father with the growth of Rid A Pest, Jamie decided to return to the pest control industry and work in the family business. He and his wife currently live in Wilson, where he now serves as Vice President and General Manager of the company as well as Manager of the Wilson Office. He is actively engaged in church assignments and enjoys spending time with his family. 

Vice President/Entomologist

Lee Smith graduated from NC State with degrees in Business and Entomology. Between his Freshman and Sophomore years he served a two-year mission for his church in the Dominican Republic. After returning home and completing college, he was invited to work in the family business managing the Morehead City office. He currently serves as Vice President, Staff Entomologist, and Marketing Director throughout the company. He currently lives in Morehead City with his wife and his yellow lab “Woody”. He enjoys fishing the local waters and participating in other outdoor activities.
